The shoe drops...

Well, I got official notice that I have 60 days to find another job within the corporation or suffer the slings and arrows of involuntary lay off.  I think I'll probably get another position, but it will mean a major lifestyle change for us.  The only positions available are in another city about 20 miles away as the crow flies (an hour as the car crawls in commute traffic).  That means that I won't be seeing my husband every day for lunch, and I will have to drive quite a bit, which makes me a little nervous.

If I don't get another job, I'm in a bit of a pickle.  I'm only 52, (too old to rock and roll, too young to die!), and I can't get my retirement until age 55.  Besides,  I've been in harness for over 30 years, and I'm not really ready to be turned out to pasture yet.

Well, it's another chapter.  What surprises me is that with all this stress, my Parkinson's symptoms are very much under control.  Could it be that I just needed a little shakeup?

Marian,
I've been thinking about you. Wanted to let you know I received your beautiful note. I haven't had a chance to write back yet - I honestly don't know how to express my gratitude for your personal gesture. Please know it has meant so much to me.

I will be writing more, but wanted to let you know the message and gift were received. Beautiful. Thank you.

I don't know if you've made a decision yet, but trust your heart, and trust that whatever happens is right. You are always in the right place at the right time. Always. Everything happens for a reason, even if we don't know what it is. I am glad to hear your symptoms are under control. I hope that's still the case.

Best and positive wishes,

Tuba Bob

Hi Tuba Bob,
I'm so glad you received my note and forgave the bad handwriting! I'd like to blame PD for that, but alas; I always had bad handwriting. I'm also so pleased that you liked the picture; it was made from the heart. Things are getting better for me; it looks like I've found enough work to move the "drop dead" date at least a few months further. If I can keep doing that, maybe I'll be able to get my full retirement in 2 and a half years... but if not, that's o.k. I can deal with that, too.

Marian, Sorry about the tumultuous work situation. Here's hoping that things work out for you in a new role. Thanks for your blog through the years. Dan

About Me

My photo
I'm a lucky lady. I have a wonderful husband of 27 years, a fantastic 25 year old son (I'm so proud of him!) a loving and supportive family, the best friends in the world, a job that I love, and... Parkinson's Disease. I was diagnosed in September 2006. That was a jolt, but I'm learning to deal with it.
